Heavily Stained Shower in Acton, MA is Improved with a Grout Cleaning Service
September 30, 2016We all agree that the shower is one of the most important places in a home – any home. Homeowners love to start or end their daily routine by taking a refreshing and revitalizing shower, relaxing and getting rid of daily stress. Also, there might be no other place in the house that suffers so much from damage due to moisture, dirt, and soap-scum. That was especially true for a homeowner we visited in Acton, Massachusetts, whose shower had been subjected to substantial damage over the last couple of years. The homeowner had tried it all to get it back to its former freshness, even homemade recipes a dear neighbor had suggested for the grout lines, but nothing seemed to work. No matter how hard she tried to clean it, the grout lines still looked dingy and moldy, and the shower joints were falling apart. After so many attempts, she had assumed that replacing the tiles was the only way to restore its appearance.
One of the homeowner's daughters listened to her distress over the shower and how she didn't have the patience to go through a renovation. The daughter suggested that she contact Sir Grout of Greater Boston for a grout cleaning service in Acton, where they lived. She explained the great results her friend got after dealing with a similar problem. She assured her mother that she wouldn't have to replace the shower tiles. The homeowner decided to call them first thing in the morning.
When our Sir Grout of Greater Boston inspection team got to the home, they immediately noticed how deep stains on the grout and tiles had caused the shower to lose all its appeal. It looked dingy and dull, as if it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. More importantly, the team noticed that the shower joints were falling apart and needed to be fixed quickly to prevent water damage. The homeowner expressed how valuable this part of the home was for her and how she had lost hope that it could get any better, until her daughter suggested otherwise. We promised her we would completely renew the Shower for her!
Before anything else, we had to perform a general cleaning in the area we would be working on. We did this by applying a non-toxic, pH-neutral cleaner to the tile and grout. Usually, grout lines in showers get stained this heavily from soap-scum and dirty water, combined with aggressive cleaning products that deteriorate them. That's why we use a less harsh product for cleaning. We performed the deep cleaning with a high-speed, gentle scrubber that extracts dirt from the grout lines. This removed almost all the dirt and grime from them both on the floor and walls. However, we used vapor steam cleaning for some stubborn areas. Then, we replaced the deteriorating shower joints with Stainmaster Epoxy Grout, which is resistant to cracks, water, and stains. This homeowner's shower already looked so much better, but we had one more step left: ColorSeal. By applying ColorSeal, we recolored and sealed the grout to make it more resistant against water, stains, mold, and mildew. ColorSeal is very helpful in showers.
We showed the results to the homeowner. She couldn't believe her eyes! Her precious shower looked brand-new. It had completely recovered its fresh appearance, and even the color of the tiles looked better with no trace of stains or mold on the grout lines. Additionally, her shower was now protected against water damage. The homeowner called her daughter right away to share the exciting news. She was very satisfied, and we were pleased to know she would recommend our services to her friends. Nothing makes us happier than to see that our job is meeting and even exceeding our customers' expectations. Before we left, we gave the homeowner practical tips to keep her revived shower in the best condition.
